Kaboom Collective Receives $50,000 Donation from The Risman Philanthropic Fund to Complete Multi-Year Animated Short Production

CLEVELAND, December 27, 2023 – Kaboom Collective, a production-based educational platform dedicated to nurturing young talent in the arts, is thrilled to announce a $50,000 donation from The Tricia L. and Robert G. Risman Philanthropic Fund. This generous contribution will propel the completion of Kaboom’s ambitious multi-year production, an animated short film that has already involved students from various disciplines, spanning the United States and Mexico.

The animated short production has already welcomed students with a passion for voiceover acting and scriptwriting. Students participated in separate 6-week long courses under the direction of renowned producer Paul Rugg. Now, with the support of The Risman Philanthropic Fund, the organization will expand its curriculum and programming to welcome animation students. The infusion of funds will also enable the involvement of the Kaboom Studio Orchestra which will learn, perform, and record the animated short’s music, creating a comprehensive and collaborative learning experience for the students.

Rob Risman, speaking on behalf of The Risman Philanthropic Fund, which he oversees with his wife Trish Risman and family, expressed enthusiasm for supporting Kaboom Collective and its mission. “We loved the work that Liza did with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, and we wanted to be a part of this new organization and see it grow and prosper. Our family takes great pride and joy in being able to assist talented students in finding and growing their passion for music.”

The Risman family’s decision to fund Kaboom’s animation project was guided by their family’s Donor Advised Fund through the Cleveland Foundation and a mission statement that aligns with their commitment to charitable giving. Risman explained, “The animation project at Kaboom Collective checked all the boxes. It supports education and learning and will help provide a unique and amazing opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the music industry.”

When asked about their hopes for Kaboom, Trish Risman shared, “We want Kaboom to not only grow but to be a national leader in fostering students’ passion for music and giving them the opportunity to make the music industry their career if they should so choose.”

Encouraging others to support Kaboom Collective, Mr. Risman emphasized, “We feel others should support Kaboom Collective because it is a very worthy cause, and the founders have a proven track record of incredible success helping students achieve at the highest level.”

Funds from this donation will also be utilized to edit and finish production on the project, which will then be entered into film festivals and contests across the world.

Kaboom Collective Executive Director, Joseph Weagraff, adds, “Kaboom Collective is beyond grateful for Rob, Trish, and the entire Risman family. They see our vision for the future of arts education and are helping us achieve these ambitious goals. This is only the beginning of our partnership.”

The collaboration between Kaboom Collective and The Risman Philanthropic Fund represents a powerful union in support of arts education, creating opportunities for young talents to thrive in the world of music and animation.
